A practical starting range for laboratory development is:

• 0.01–0.05% for daily scalp or facial products
• 0.05–0.2% for more concentrated formulations
• Higher concentrations require additional compatibility, stability and safety assessment

AHK-Cu may create a blue or blue-green appearance depending on concentration, pH and the surrounding formula.

Example calculations

50 g scalp serum at 0.05%

• AHK-Cu powder: 0.025 g
• Remaining serum base: 49.975 g

100 g hair spray at 0.1%

• AHK-Cu powder: 0.10 g
• Remaining formulation: 99.90 g

400 g shampoo at 0.2%

• AHK-Cu powder: 0.80 g
• Remaining shampoo base: 399.20 g

Mixing instructions

1. Weigh the powder using a scale accurate to at least 0.001 g.
2. Dissolve it separately in a small quantity of distilled or deionised water.
3. Mix gently until no visible particles remain.
4. Add to the completed formulation during cool-down.
5. Keep processing temperatures below approximately 35–40°C where possible.
6. Mix until the colour and active are evenly distributed.
7. Check the final pH and perform stability and packaging-compatibility testing.

For shampoos and conditioners, subtract the water used to dissolve the peptide from the total water phase. Add the peptide after the product has cooled rather than during the heated manufacturing phase.
