PT-141 & Melanocortin Research Peptides

The melanocortin system is a family of five receptors (MC1R to MC5R) that respond to alpha-MSH and related peptides. This collection groups the synthetic melanocortin agonists we stock for receptor-binding and signalling research.

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic heptapeptide and a metabolite of Melanotan II, studied mainly at the MC3 and MC4 receptors in central melanocortin-signalling research. Our PT-141 owner page is the 10mg lyophilised vial. The same compound is also available as a PT-141 nasal spray solution for intranasal models and as a ready-made PT-141 pen.

MT-1 (Melanotan I, afamelanotide) is a linear alpha-MSH analogue with a preference for MC1R, used in melanogenesis research. MT-2 (Melanotan II) is a cyclic, non-selective melanocortin agonist and is available as a vial and a nasal spray solution.

All of these are research compounds. We make no tanning, sexual-health or other effect claims, and they are not for human use. Every batch is independently tested by HPLC and mass spectrometry, with certificates on our COA page. Delivery is free on South African orders over R2,500.

PT-141 & Melanocortin Research Peptides: frequently asked questions

Questions researchers ask about this range

What is the difference between PT-141 and MT-2?

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a metabolite of MT-2 that lacks the C-terminal amide. It is studied mainly at MC3R and MC4R, while MT-2 is a non-selective agonist across the melanocortin receptors.

Which PT-141 format should I choose?

The 10mg lyophilised vial keeps longest. The nasal spray solution suits intranasal research models, and the pen is supplied ready-made and kept at 2–8 °C.

Is MT-1 the same as afamelanotide?

Yes. MT-1, Melanotan I and afamelanotide are names for the same linear alpha-MSH analogue.

Are these products for human use?

No. They are sold strictly for laboratory research and are not for human or veterinary use.
